Snow report Berchtesgaden Alps, 01/26/2026

Short snow check today at noon in the lower elevations. Unfortunately, exactly zero, nada, zilch of the shaky forecast precipitation reached us. There's a layer of harsh snow that's either relatively hard (despite the plus temperatures today) or tough and brittle. Underneath is either wet or dry floating snow. It would certainly be nice to ride without the cover variants. It was ok, but something softer would have been good. It requires a lot of attention and very active riding. At least there was no ice here, which you often encounter on forest roads. There are fewer and fewer of the already sparse options. However, the cross-country skiers felt like they had the winter of the decade.
