Snow condition
Bitter. You have to cycle or carry a long way (from about 1300 on the shady side) and then you are still confronted with stony passages. It also has to be as structurally poor, shady and open terrain as possible with at most sparse tree cover.
Snow quality
... and once again Bruchharschpartey. It's actually strange that it lasts so long. The crumbly layer is very tough and deep. When hopping around, you get the feeling that you'll just get stuck after landing. The fresh snow on top is already very warm on the north-east-facing slope above the tree line. Both together make for quite challenging downhill conditions. It gets better towards the bottom, but quickly becomes too shallow.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
There were a few very small wet and loose snow slides. Overall, however, the risk should be kept within reasonable limits as the amount of snow is quite small.
Overall impression
Incredibly beautiful ambience this morning with great light and a winter feeling. Unfortunately, the downhill conditions were pretty tough. The sun was already incredibly strong and had already warmed the fresh snow considerably, but in the shade the fresh snow was still powdery in the morning. Let's hope that the tough layer of crushed harsh snow will soon be transformed. For this time of year, there is already an appalling lack of snow. It's going to be a very short spring season in the region.
