Exposition
Snow condition
Feels like a relatively bad April. You have to carry or cycle a long way. On my tour, it was particularly nasty that the forest path kept coming up with stony passages. Above 1400 m, there is a relatively reliable snow cover on the shaded side.
Snow quality
I skied down the upper east-facing slope shortly before 11am, which was quite nice. However, it wasn't quite as soft in the forest below and hard and icy on the forest path. Overall, a descent about three quarters of an hour later would have been better.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
On the eastern side, the snow cover had a hardened cover up to 1900 m. In this exposure, the snow cover decreases considerably, especially in the higher steep terrain. Where there is more snow and the sun comes in, you should certainly pay attention to the diurnal variation.
Overall impression
Beautiful spring tour in the fantastic Watzmann ambience. The descent could have been a little later, but unfortunately I didn't have time. A few good turns at the top in the sun were still possible though. Unfortunately, there's so little snow and it's only the beginning of March. I'm worried...
