Snow condition
Of course, there was no decent base anywhere. However, you can accelerate quite well on high and rock-free alpine meadows because the snow cover has settled so much. Everything else is still nothing. The higher altitudes should be avoided.
Snow quality
It was already very warm and drizzling during the night. At 9 o'clock on the dot, when we set off, it really poured for a quarter of an hour. But the snow was still really good to ski on up to about 1000m. A bit like deep firn... :D At the bottom it was also quite nice in the crushed potatoes, next to it partly braking.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
The snow cover was very wet a long way up. However, there isn't much of it yet. With increasing cold and fresh snow, the situation will probably change again quite soon.
Overall impression
Very cool (unfortunately very late) first day for me and Skibuddy No. 1, despite the wet start. No sign of powder, but this white cream was at least really great to ski on at the top. What's more, the sun came out quite soon after the rain and despite the crowds, there was still plenty of untracked snow on the main slope. There's not much going on in Berchtesgaden yet. Now let's keep our fingers crossed that it gets colder again quickly and new stuff arrives...
