Snow condition
There is not a lot of snow in the area around Bivio this winter. However, the amount of snow is certainly sufficient for ski tours, apart from steep, low-lying south-facing slopes, where the base is sometimes missing. Some of the summits are blown off, but that is not necessarily unusual. In any case, the fresh new snow makes the whole thing look much more wintry again.
Snow quality
There has been about 25cm of fresh snow in the past two days. Today, all exposures were powdery (sunny slopes should be capped soon). Humps and ridges are partly blown off. Sometimes you come across the rather bumpy layer of old snow when skiing, but that didn't really bother you.
Risks
The amount of fresh snow was not extreme, and there were hardly any spontaneous slides to be seen. However, the westerly wind has already moved some of the 25cm, especially in areas close to the ridges. The avalanche situation is much more relaxed in sheltered, lower areas where the wind has had less of an effect. The local differences are quite large.
Overall impression
All in all, pretty nice powder snow conditions...
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
