Good snow conditions, although I would have expected more. Somehow the snow doesn't really seem to have fallen in the south of the Alps this winter, but only in the south-east in REAL quantities. There's still a bit of snow on the northern side at the tree line, but with skis it's only enough further up. It's only really good in gullies/chasms and on the glaciers, but the latter in particular are still quite well snowed in, even if larger crevasses are slowly becoming visible. You can still start directly from Passo Gavia on skis, but it's also really busy. We set off from Refugio Forni, where people have been carrying skis for a while.

Well, unfortunately not that great. The fresh snow from the previous week would probably still have been quite good on Friday, we had partly broken snow at higher altitudes, partly hard. Firn then in a few areas further down, but mostly already slush there.

Risks

Well, maybe don't be out too late on steep sunny slopes...

Nice weather, but quite busy and not really great snow. But you don't want to complain in June.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
