As the valley in Sella Nevea is at 1100m, you can walk away from the bottom without any problems. Caution is only required in the forest below 1800m. At the bottom there is about 30cm, at the top more than 1m

The snow is already quite heavy on the south side and when the sun disappears, a lid quickly forms. But it's still easy to ski, and on the north side you can still find the finest powder - almost paradisiacal conditions for a region where winter has taken its time this year.

Risks

In principle, I can still fully agree with the 2s given out, but the originally planned north-facing tour to the Sella Ursic was too hot for me, as there is an entrance here via an approx. 45 degree steep gully which was loaded with plenty of snow. There were also some slides from the steep flanks and a large board may have recently come down in the vicinity (picture), so I switched to the safe side (Forca del Disteis).

Unfortunately, the planned tour didn't materialize and, due to the forecast snowfall, the next few days were not without danger. Nevertheless, it was a very rewarding day with perfect weather, a great descent and tasty pizza as a reward.

Tip: As I had a good view of the freeride variants of the Sella Nevea / Kanin ski area from the Rifugio Gilberti, I was tempted to treat myself to a day ticket....looks really good already and the next snowfalls have already been announced.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
