Snow condition
From Lake Constance up to approx. 1800/2000m ultra-compact snow cover, it has rained up to approx. 2000m and not too little. Yes, there is still snow at about 500m! and you could ski up there, just how. You could also award more stars for that...
Snow quality
A star on the north side, tough, rough madness. There may be filled gullies with a more rideable surface somewhere over 2000m. On the south side, you may even find something similar to firn on a load-bearing layer. At least breaking through is hardly an issue. Not even ground contact. But slalom between the stones, with approx. 20-30 cm of residual snow!!!
Risks
No danger up to about 2000m in my opinion. It doesn't get much higher in large parts of the Bregenzerwald anyway. The night was clear and everything turned to concrete ice... I didn't go any higher today, where it might not have rained after all.
Overall impression
TOP weather, otherwise not as bad as yesterday in the Allgäu, but still bad enough that it destroyed the dream of last week like this... Maybe I should finally get my paragliding license...
