Auf den Spuren des Guntenlaufs

Snow condition
The snow conditions are exceptionally good. You can ascend from the valley (approx. 450 m). If there are meadows or sparse forest, you can ski down without hesitation. The forest is littered with pillows. There is absolutely nothing to complain about.
Snow quality
In the morning still powder down to the valley from midday only from about 800 m. Significant wind influence from approx. 1,200 m. Both the drift snow and the fresh snow were fine to ski. It became very heavy on the descent from around 800m. In the evening it started to rain in the valley.
Risks
The critical level of fresh snow (approx. 30 cm+) was reached during the day. The wind blew strongly from approx. 1,200 m above sea level. A lot of it was deposited especially near the ridge (on the sunny side). Steep slopes should be assessed critically.
Overall impression
Starting in the city and getting to the starting point without a car is a luxury. Today we followed the tracks of the Guntenlauf to the Hochälpele. In the end, it's almost 1,000 m of ascent. It's not a challenge in terms of skiing, but it was a magnificent ascent in terms of scenery. The descent follows over meadows and forest paths.
