Snow report Bregenzerwald, 01/18/2017
Unexpected powder descent at night. Perfect conditions for night ski tours. Ascent through snow-covered forests that look really kitschy. It can stay like this for a long time ...

Overall impression
Snow condition
The latest snowfall has improved the situation considerably. This is sufficient for a good base. We were on the move today between 650-1200 m. The snow conditions are also sufficient in the forest. There is 50cm+ throughout.
Snow quality
Clearly settled snow that has already been transformed and is clearly building up. A pronounced surface frost has formed on the surface, which offers a glittering spectacle when illuminated with a headlamp. Great for riding. Great conditions in all exposures. The influence of the wind could be seen at the summit.
Risks
In the area where we were out and about today, it has already eased considerably. Possible weak layers are currently only connecting moderately due to the sub-zero temperatures (approx. -10° on our tour). In the high mountains it's certainly much trickier. Especially where there was snow before.
Overall impression
Very nice night ski tour. The current snow conditions offer plenty of opportunities to go on a tour after work. There is enough snow on the meadows for relaxed descents. You should watch out for barbed wire fences.
