Snow condition
Mrs. Holle has left a lot of snow. Up to the tree line, there is an extraordinary amount. Above that it becomes variable due to the drifts. Many terrain traps are covered and steeper areas are filled with snow. Exposed areas are unfortunately free of snow. Many descents, especially on south-facing slopes, have not been so safe for years. You can start from the valley floor in all directions on touring skis.
Snow quality
Powdery in all expos and down to the valley floor. From approx. 1400 m, however, the powder lies on top of a layer of hard snow. Above the tree line there is often drift snow, which is great for skiing. Rutted variants can be skied all day on soft snow. With the current conditions, you can finally ski at speed again.
Risks
The drifts and fresh snow caused the avalanche level to rise from Fri to Sat. A widespread 20 cm of fresh snow fell with wind above the tree line. The fresh layer was very homogeneous above the tree line. The snowpack continues to grow and grow ... On Sunday, another 5 cm of fresh snow had fallen and with a bit of wind it was fresh again on areas with little wind. Level 2 was issued, but I would tend towards level 3 from around 1800 m.
Overall impression
2 top days in the "forest". Long descents and twice with fresh new snow. Saturday was significantly more, but with diffuse visibility. Sunday good visibility but more people in the terrain. In the evening, the terrain close to the lifts was heavily tracked and the classics had already been skied. The temperatures are brilliant and the snow stays powdery all day. Off-piste skiing like I haven't experienced for years.
