Snow report Bregenzerwald, 02/06/2016

Snow condition

Unbelievable ... A few days of foehn and the snow disappears. The base really seems to be in danger. Above 1800m I would generally give it a three, as there is still some snow left (quality not taken into consideration), but below 1800m or even below 1000m there is almost nothing usable left ... Goodbye valley descent.

Snow quality

Bone-crushing snow at its finest. A colorful mixture of hard snow, extremely heavy snow and just plain slush. If you're looking for pow here, you're in the wrong place.

It should be reasonably safe due to the compressed and heavy snow. However, there would not be the temperatures of well above 0 degrees. You can always expect wet snow avalanches on south-facing slopes, which bring quite a lot of mass with them. Even cornices are slowly becoming a risk.

Overall impression

Such a junk snow and then 2 stars overall impression ... Are you mad?!!! No!!! After a few bad runs, we decided to simply look for a slightly softer spot and refresh our beacon knowledge and practise a lot. Why go home depressed when you can still do something useful in the snow despite the bad conditions? I can only recommend it to everyone.
