Once again, winter only shows its best side towards the end. We were able to ski many beautiful descents today that had not been possible in the last few weeks. On a south-facing slope, a bit of snow came through from below. Tree stumps etc. are not covered in the forest.

The quantities are decent. At the moment it is estimated to be around 50cm, which has been in the forest since yesterday. It's also quite easy to ride. But you can't deny a clear wind influence. There may be face shots, but they don't get any higher than 1.9 m. The exciting thing was that the snow was very compact in the early hours. Around 9am there was a layer of sleet in between and by 10am it was thick flakes.

Risks

The many small pockets and weak layers that were triggered throughout the day were surprising. These were not the rarely skied slopes. No, a small pocket (20m wide) came loose directly under the Uga lift. We triggered 2 small slabs ourselves today, but they were only 10cm high. One of them in very flat terrain (30°). The snow also moved very easily on the surface of the sleet layer, which, in combination with the pronounced snow packs, will make for an exciting situation over the next few days.

Will be in the top 5 this year. As someone from Vorarlberg, you're a bit spoiled. It was a good day with a lot of vertical meters. All in all, it feels like winter.
