Snow report Bregenzerwald, 04/21/2017

Season finale in Damüls - with a lot of luck there are still soft snow fields on the north side, most of it will soon be gone. The strong spring sun is working hard.

Thanks to the snow replenishment this week, the snow conditions are not too bad. However, the difference between the exposures is particularly clear. On the south side, the base is often already coming out (rather 1 star), on the north side and in sheltered places you can still ski quite well.

Here, too, it depends on the location. In very sheltered north-facing exposures, there was actually still soft, skiable snow in the morning. In all other exposures, the snow is heavy and very wet. At lunchtime, everything softens up extremely, pure braking snow forms over large areas, not a real pleasure to ride on.

Risks

Numerous sliding snow mouths were visible in the area, both new/fresh and old. The snow is very wet due to the increasingly strong sun. In addition, this week's fresh snow is lying on the old snow cover or on the ground that has already warmed up again - in other words, similar situations as in the fall when winter sets in.

A worthy end to the season with the best weather in the morning! A water fight in the afternoon, but at least there was still some base. Now it's time to go touring, as the lifts have stopped working today.
