Snow condition
The snow conditions are very variable. A general statement would be dubious at the moment. Locally it can be quite good, but also very bad again. Above the tree line there tends to be a lot more drifts. In sheltered areas from 1800-1500 m it can be fun. Below 1400 m it is generally far too little.
Snow quality
The temperatures are generally quite warm. At 1500 m it's around 2 degrees max. This means the snow is heavy and quite compact. Above 1600 m there is dust. The snowfall is very showery and you get the feeling that your face is being sandblasted. The same applies here: very variable and sometimes fun.
Risks
The wind is quite tense, especially above the tree line. Gusts of over 100 km/h above 1800 m were not uncommon over the last few days. Lifts have been shut down or emptied again and again. The fresh snow lies on a moist base (controlled at approx. 1700 m north). In general, it is already quite compact due to the high temperatures. The warmth favors the settling but with the wind it will remain critical further up. Level 4 was issued today in the Arlberg region and level 3 in Damüls above the whale line.
Overall impression
The last two days in the area were ok. Today the "freeriders" plowed up the terrain near the piste within 30 minutes. Due to the wind and the fresh snow, the tracks were quickly covered and it remained fun all day.
