Variations of snow cover

From around 1500m, there is a continuous blanket of snow in shady areas. Wherever the sun has more power, it's partly snowy up to well over 2000m. For the first time this winter, I was able to ski rocky flanks in the region without catching sharks at every turn. Nevertheless, you still have to be careful where you ski.

Firn
Powder snow

Steep north side above 2200m mostly good powder, above 2700m partly with more wind influence. Below 2200m transition to firn-like snow which slowly became soft on the north side around 12 today.

Risks

Old snow problem
North

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Today very safe conditions due to the dry air top Harschdeckel up to the snow line. Old snow problem still present in a few places

Overall impression

Equal

One of the best touring days of the season so far. Anyone who can still use tomorrow, after that the air will probably be too humid and a lot will melt away on the north side below 2000m.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
