Snow condition
A good meter of fresh snow has been added to the good base in large parts of Upper Carinthia. At the border with Italy, there's even more (up to 1.5m at 13h) and it continues to snow heavily.
Snow quality
The temperatures were fine up to about 1000m, below that the snow is very wet. Above that the snow is great, at least if you can find something that isn't life-threatening. Wind was also an issue.
Risks
Due to the huge amounts of snow, avalanche warning level 5 in some areas! Many ski resorts were completely closed today (ankogel goldeck Mölltal glacier and the Nassfeld hotspot with more than 1.5m of fresh snow), but things are getting better towards the north as the amounts were smaller here.
Overall impression
One day in the car....3 drove to various areas which were then all closed. We then switched to the Innerkrems to at least get a few turns in. It looks like it's still snowing and we'll have to wait and see. The situation is very tense and it's definitely not worth risking too much.
