Before the Tauern tunnel on the north side, it unfortunately looks more like spring again. After the tunnel exit in Lungau it looks like winter. Half a meter of fresh snow makes the base in Lungau very good. A few more centimetres were added last night with cooler temperatures. Above the tree line (there was some visibility for a short time), the wind has left nasty tracks and a special landscape.

The snow fell again overnight in slightly colder temperatures. Despite the drop in temperature, the snow was not particularly fluffy but still very good to ski on. During the course of the day, the temperatures rose again with light precipitation and the snow became much heavier. However, it was still quite solid to ski, especially where there were still no tracks. All in all, just enough for 3 stars.

Risks

The avalanche situation is delicate. Especially above the tree line, massive wind influence and consequently extensive avalanches. Troughs and gullies should be avoided. Below the tree line, the snow became wetter during the course of the day and there is a risk of wet snow avalanches. We were unable to observe any activity and spent the day on the flatter terrain below the tree line.

Overall impression

Well, some lifts were closed in the morning and the day didn't get off to a great start. But we had a delicious breakfast and a few cappuccinos. This put us in a great mood again and gradually the lifts were running. There were a few nice turns and runs after all.
