Snow report Central Switzerland, 01/15/2014
Stoos" was the perfect alternative destination. We had planned a powder day on the Titlis in Engelberg. However, when we saw the attached picture on Facebook (no. 1 - access to the foliage descent - probably needs no further explanation), we decided to go for it.

Snow condition
On Tuesday, January 14, around 30 centimetres of good quality fresh snow fell in Central Switzerland. Enough to prevent contact with the hard old snow cover on the slopes. Only the crests and ridges were free of snow due to the wind.
Snow quality
Good snow quality. Due to the sun on Wednesday and the foehn on Thursday, the snow has already become a little heavy, but is still of good quality.
Risks
The avalanche situation is tense. SLF reports level 3 and we have triggered two small snow slabs ourselves. Occasionally, snow slabs of a manageable size have also come loose spontaneously. The strong Föhn wind brought a lot of snow yesterday. In central Switzerland, caution is advised over the next few days, especially in gullies and hollows.
Overall impression
The first super powder day of the season. We skied first lines all day and actually had the area all to ourselves for the whole day. It can go on like this.
