Snow report Central Switzerland, 02/15/2016

Flying blind was the order of the day on the slopes today. You couldn't see ten meters in the fog. It was a completely different story off-piste. Thanks to the forest, visibility was perfectly adequate. And what I'd never experienced before: the 2 of us skiers were the only ones far and wide.

Stones and grass only peek out of the snow on the hilltops. The wind has almost completely cleared them of snow. However, the rest of the terrain is easy to ride on without touching the ground. And it has snowed enough in the last 24 hours to float in the snow - without hitting the hard surface.

I've never seen snow like this before. It's powdery and fart-dry, the fog probably preserves the good quality for the time being. The top 5 millimetres are wind-pressed, but that doesn't bother me at all. However, it may well be that this snow (dry, round crystals) will become a weak layer in the snowpack. Because it hasn't bonded at all yet.

Risks

SLF reports warning level 2, i.e. moderate. Despite the special snow quality (see section above), too little of it has fallen to pose a real danger. But then again: You never know....

Fun day among the trees, which brought contours into the foggy soup. THANK YOU TREES - thanks to you we were able to really enjoy this day. Also thanks to the dry snow. Oh, always those stars. Actually, I'd like to give it 4. And I actually had fun for 5 stars. But I want to remain objective and hope for days that will be even better.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
