Tour after one of yesterday's powder refreshments
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Still very poor, just two stars. On the south side, there is only yesterday's fresh snow cover on the steep terrain - not much up to 1800m. There is something on the north side, but: stream beds, terrain edges, trees, stones are clearly noticeable. From about 2200m it gets better - but the handbrake is somehow on this winter.
Snow quality
Yesterday there was about 20-30 inches of fresh snow. The fluctuating temperatures during yesterday's snowfall didn't really have a positive effect on the quality. The top layer was sleet-like and strange to ride on. It felt a bit shabby. There was no real surf feeling. Still quite acceptable. More and more powdery further up - but with wind influence.
Risks
In our area and in the terrain we were traveling in, it was relatively relaxed. There were a few spring-like loose snow slides on the south side and if you go on south-facing tours, you should certainly watch out for wet snow avalanches. We did not observe any cracks or booms as described in the situation report.
Overall impression
Nice relaxed day - but you notice that EVERYONE has some catching up to do and that there are a lot of Turkish people on the road.
