Yesterday rain up to 2000 meters, today storm - the conditions on the Titlis are not easy at the moment. Let's hope for Friday...

Snow condition
Compared to other years, there is very little snow on the Titlis. You can feel this at the Steinberg exit, for example, where you have to find your way between stones and slabs of ice. And then there was yesterday's rain. It has left its mark up to an altitude of 1800 meters. In exposed places, the ground was exposed and pools of water could be seen on the Trüebsee. The rest has turned into an impenetrable layer of ice.
Snow quality
Below 2000 meters, the rain has turned the slopes and backcountry into a slide. You would definitely have more grip there on skates than on skis. Above 2000 meters it snowed about 10 centimeters yesterday. However, the wind was very strong yesterday and today. The snow was correspondingly wind-pressed. But in the upper part of the Steinberg it was quite good today. It's comparable to a soft piste.
Risks
SLF reports warning level 2, but below 1800 meters - due to the rain - avalanches of considerable size have occurred. And the strong wind is transporting a lot of snow...
Overall impression
The conditions on the Titlis this winter are anything but constant. The rain and wind have destroyed good conditions. Let's hope that Mother Hulda will have mercy on the freeriders' battered souls on Friday and shake out her pillows for next weekend.
