Snow report Central Switzerland, 02/24/2017
Highs and lows alternate on the Titlis at the moment. Fortunately, today was a good day. Let's hope it doesn't rain again at 2000 meters on Tuesday. If you want to make tracks tomorrow, you have to put on skins. The usual routes such as Steinber

Snow condition
Around 20 centimetres of fresh snow have eased the situation somewhat. Above 1700 meters, the snow has fallen on a relatively soft base. Floating was the order of the day there. Below that, even with very wide poles, I pushed through onto the hard surface, which was icy from the rain. Caution is still required in the lower area. You still run the risk of sharkbites in exposed areas. But even more dangerous for me are the avalanche cones that are barely covered in snow. Icy from the rain, the brochs are rock-hard and very dangerous. It is therefore advisable to shift down a gear below 1700 meters.
Snow quality
We encountered fluffy powder this morning. Due to the sun, which already has a lot of power, the powder quickly settled a little over the course of the day. And as usual in Engelberg, especially at the weekend, the snow quality can be described as ploughed up.
Risks
SLF reports warning level 2. No special observations made today. And the snow was also stable in the steep terrain. But Engelberg is always so fast and flattened that - on the busy routes - hardly any weak layers can develop.
Overall impression
Today was a good day. In snowier winters it might have been mediocre to good. But the snow was fluffy, we skied some first lines and there was so much snow on the higher slopes that you could float. But it was a good day.
