Snow condition
Still good snow conditions in the Uri Alps. I hit a stone on the descent directly from the summit, but it speaks for the snow conditions that you can reach the exposed Gifpel with skis on your feet. It is possible to ski down to the support of the feeder cable car at approx. 1,150m (east-facing).
Snow quality
North-facing powder (15-25cm) from the top up to approx. 1,400m. Almost perfect for the tour.
Risks
Good conditions also for steeper tours. Low avalanche danger in the northern sector. Watch out for wet snow in the other exposures.
Overall impression
Great day in set powder. Good snow, low avalanche danger, great weather, big steep slopes and six others on the mountain apart from me. The joy was all the greater because I had to turn around here a few years ago and now I got a hook in top conditions.
