Exposition
Snow condition
The four stars are for the altitudes above 1500 meters. It has flaked down quite a bit in the last few days. It was easily 50-60cm. Descent was only possible from a certain slope gradient.
Snow quality
Nice cold fluffy snow from about 1200. Only around noon was it a bit too warm at the bottom.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Above 1800 a clear three-pointer. We saw brutally little today, but heard a lot. With the fog, a good route was not really possible. We broke off after about 2 hours of climbing... It was too sketchy.
Overall impression
Weather roulette on the Bannalp. We had hoped that the sky would clear in the morning. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. We got a bit lost after the first few minutes, then it was exhausting and there was virtually no visibility. That was nothing today. Luckily we met 2 like-minded people with local knowledge for the descent. Otherwise we would have taken the gondola back down. The descent into the valley was 1/3 great, 2/3 not so good. You really could have gotten more out of today in another place.
