From a distance, it often looked more daunting than it actually was. On the glacier you let it go after all. Not only because your legs are not yet ready to brake, but also because the sometimes boot-deep powder invites you to surf. But of course, Steinberg lives up to its name and caution is advised. But if you like combatskiing, you can get to Trübsee without skis.

Until the fog came in late in the afternoon, the powder was very appealing and easy to ride. After that it dulled a bit but was still creamy.

Risks

The LLB warned of drift snow in the north/northwest above 2500 m. But you could hardly see much of it in the area. Stones and crevasses are certainly worth noting and want to be avoided.

Things usually turn out differently and more importantly than you think. That was quite a surprise, sun instead of fog, powder instead of sleet and it was still easy to ski down to around 2200.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
