Snow report Central Switzerland, 11/21/2015

At last! The winter season starts on the Titlis on Wednesday. First of all, the lifts on the glacier are open. If everything goes according to plan, the lifts up to Trübsee should be open from the weekend.

Around 70 centimetres of white splendour have fallen. Definitely enough for the first powder session today on the Brunni. But the fun had to be earned. Because the lifts were not yet transporting snow sports enthusiasts, you had to walk up every meter you wanted to enjoy afterwards. The snow cover was already so thick that even without a base, there was no contact with the ground. Or at most where it was blown away by the wind. And you know what: by the middle of the week, over 50 centimetres of white splendour are already on the cards again.

Silky-fine pow like in the depths of winter. It should go on like this.

Risks

It should not be underestimated that the first snow has fallen on ground that was not yet frozen. Due to the heat that the ground is still giving off, the first few centimetres above the ground are likely to melt, which is not very good for the stability of the snow cover... SLF-Lawinenbulltein reports warning level 2 for the whole of Central Switzerland with the main problem of older and newer drift snow accumulations.

After a much too long fall, it was a very successful start. There were only a few addicts on the mountain who bravely fought their way up the altitude. It can continue in the same vein. Nevertheless, we've "only" given it a cautious three stars. But there is certainly potential for improvement if we can explore more of the ski area from Wednesday onwards.
