Snow report Central Switzerland, 12/14/2013
Raclette and powder in the Meiental. Not a lot of the latter, of course, but it was certainly enough for a fun day. This CR contradicts bl3acklama's report from yesterday. This is probably due to the fact that in the ski resorts you can really

Snow condition
The snow conditions are quite poor up to well over 2000m. There's nothing to gloss over. However, thanks to the sun and warmth, the snow cover has already solidified to such an extent that, at least on sunny expos, you no longer have to fear ground contact with a little caution. At higher altitudes, the snow cover is often strongly influenced by the wind. From the 14th to the 15th of December, around 5cm of fresh snow fell in the Meiental in the early hours of the night with strong westerly winds.
Snow quality
A welcome surprise! We hardly encountered any really bad snow. Unexpectedly, we encountered beautiful powder conditions. The little fresh snow, together with the winds and the still loose old snow, repeatedly formed beautiful "powder islands". On sunny slopes, melting hard snow that thawed up to high altitudes during the course of the day.
Risks
Low according to SLF. We have critically assessed the fresh but small-scale accumulation of drift snow from the previous night. There is no danger of burial, but the thicknesses are sufficient to be swept away. With the many stones still sticking out at the moment, the potential for injury is correspondingly high. In a steep couloir filled with drifting snow, we triggered a mini snow slab.
Overall impression
Amazingly good! Admittedly, we started with virtually zero expectations and were surprised with quite appealing conditions. Nevertheless, we need a massive dump soon!!! Maybe for Christmas???
