After the top conditions on the glacier above, we wanted to take a closer look at the snow in the Couloir des Cosmiques. You abseil a good 100 meters down to the skiable snow (at least 2x50-meter ropes). Avalanche-wise, the couloir makes a fairly stable impression; nevertheless, extreme caution is required with a 3 in the situation report. We had everything from slightly better broken snow to powder turns, but the snow in the couloir is clearly influenced by the wind. At one point in the middle you either have to "walk" briefly over stones, jump or climb down - much easier as a skier than as a snowboarder. The way back to the middle station is doable, but full of stones. Took us about 1.5-2 hours. There are tracks leading down to the valley, which can probably be done reasonably well with the current snow conditions. All in all, a nice excursion into the couloir, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it in the current conditions.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
