The descent into the valley is definitely not recommended. Hardly any or no surface at all. A few white streaks down into the valley, but without any stones. More snow only from 2000m upwards. But even here there is little fill. On average, I estimate a 40cm snow cover up to 2500m. Currently, all the famous big descents (like the vallee blanche) are still not possible. Mainly because the crevasses at the top have not yet been filled and there is not enough snow to ski out at the bottom.

Better than it looked. Powder was in poor shape and very difficult to find. But the snow that was there was easy to ride. On sunny slopes during the day, a light crust also forms a little higher up (over 2000 meters) towards the evening.

Risks

According to the LLB in the resort 3, but actually everything seems quite firm. On the shaded side in the morning there were still small slides of about 5cm. But we didn't see any big slides or avalanches. With the sun and the warming during the day, the snow seemed more and more compact.

But quite bad. You really don't have to come to Cahmonix for the freeriding. But the panorama is always a hit and steep gullies are fun even when they're a bit harder. You can look forward to the FWT contest in these snow conditions! It's supposed to snow on Saturday. Whether that helps will depend very much on the amount.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
