It snowed for my birthday - thank you! So on Saturday, the descent of the Vallee Blanche (picture 2) from the Aiguille du Midi (picture 1) went without taking the train in Montenvers via the destination route (picture 3). At the end, however, we had to carry a piece of it again and again. But more regrettable than that is the state of the glacier, #globalwarming. So eat less meat, friends!

Snow quality

Compact powder snow up to Salle a Manger, but quite rugged. Further down, in the flat part, lots of wind and broken snow.

Risks

The snow conditions are quite stable, especially in the morning. What the Mer de Glace loses in ice is constantly replenished by the rockfall where the glacier has retreated.

Superb weather and a successful descent with friends! On Sunday it snowed up to 1600m, but the poor visibility only allowed a short tour close to the piste to the Col de la Balme.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
