Snow condition
Gullies and glaciers in the high mountains are generally well filled. There are always rocks sticking out, especially at lower altitudes, but they are easy to recognize and drive around.

Snow quality
Felt very much worked by the sun. In the couloir itself, the snow in the upper part was rather hard, but not yet completely icy. You could slide down the sides reasonably well. In the lower, south-facing part, the snow was much softer (firn) and easy to ski. Abseiling is set up at the end, approx. 50 meters.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
No avalanche activity observed. The bergschrund on the Glacier du Milieu is relatively small and can be crossed easily with an athletic step (or a good choice of tracks). Short climbing crux available, but can possibly be secured (belay station available above).
Overall impression
A great day with sunshine and an exceptional atmosphere - that's what gets the four stars. Despite rather difficult snow conditions, especially in the couloir (hard at the top, but not yet icy; a little softer at the bottom, but no surfy firn), it was a day I'd like to have more of.
