Exposition
Snow condition
In Grands Montets variant terrain, there are no longer as many stones sticking out as there were a few weeks ago. The warm wind has probably had little effect here due to the northern exposure.
Snow quality
You can enjoy beautiful old powder in the off-piste terrain. Never icy but mostly rutted. Untracked slopes have an unpleasant wind cover on the north-east side towards the Argentière basin.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
There are massive and hard drift snow packs on the northeast side, so watch out for hard slab avalanches.
Overall impression
There was a bit too much powder snow on the Rachasses ridge and in the intersections, so we turned off after the first third and climbed down towards the glacier. From here on, a few nice turns in powder snow, although there was also a lot of hard drift snow.
