Snow condition
Glacier well snowed in. The high traverse over the Rognon below the Aiguille Verte is not yet groomed, but looks possible. The bergschrund below Chevalier Couloir and further mixed lines are well covered and surmountable.
Snow quality
Steep and still powdery on the north side, but somewhat settled and grippy. Otherwise well-groomed conditions below the Col des Rachasses towards the Argentiere basin. The upper part of the descent along the Arrret des Rachasses towards the la Herse lift is still untracked. But here, at the end of the day, surfy untracked snow. Better to ski than the half-tracked sulz ice mix but also exhausting.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Less warming than the last few days. No new avalanches sighted. See snow conditions for crevasse situation.
Overall impression
Short excursion to the shorter tours on the Petite Aiguille Verte. Access via Col des Rachasses very busy. Similar to a highway. As a piste skier, on the other hand, you have empty pistes. Crossing the Col R. is possible without crampons. Optimal conditions in the north-facing gullies at the moment with pleasant temperatures.
