At the pendant lift below approx. 2100 m there is rather little and therefore a hard base (north-west to west facing). If it is purely north-facing, you just get to 1700 m, which makes it fun, below that the base is sufficient for skiing but the fresh snow is too small for serious turns.

Powder snow

Not moving out until the early afternoon was the right decision. For the first few hours, the cohesion between 15 cm of fresh snow and hard ground was miserable. The fresh snow was so fluffy and the binding so bad that there were mini loose snow avalanches with every turn in the 30 degree terrain. The effect increased over the course of the day and then decreased as the snow cover grew and settled, especially at higher altitudes above 2000m. Below 2000m, the snow was a bit heavier in the afternoon but good to ski. Above 2400m it could have been 5 stars, the visibility was so poor that you didn't know whether it was face shots or snowfall. At some point, the critical amount of fresh snow was reached for us with 35 cm and we said goodbye to the wide open slopes due to the poor visibility and possible avalanche danger.

Risks

Much fresh snow

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

Critical amount of fresh snow, especially above 2400m. No wind influence.

Better

Tomorrow it will certainly be even better when you can no longer feel the old layers so much. Today was really good, especially at the end of the day. No old ground to be felt above 2400m. Relatively little going on in the area.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
