Snow condition
Still good snow conditions in the Grands Montets area. Mountain circuits in the vicinity of the Petit Aiguille Verte are well closed.
Snow quality
North-facing lid not load-bearing. Then about 5-10 cm of fresh snow during the day but only above 2300m. No cover above 3000 m but soft layers under the fresh snow. Occasional wind influence both in the lower layers and in the fresh snow on top. Quite slushy below 1800 m.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Fresh drifting snow lenses with the wind. Amounts of fresh snow and wind very different locally. Visibility was very limited during the day.
Overall impression
Despite the fresh snow, skiing is not particularly rewarding at the moment. There's no firn because it's too cold or overcast. There's not enough pow to cover the old layers either. It's still a drifting snow, slush and slush party that will hopefully come to an end with the sunnier days on Monday and Tuesday.
