Snow condition
Vallon de Berard incredibly good snow conditions. The Mer de Glace has also been snowed in again. Good snow conditions in the lower area too. No stone contact. Argentiere glacier and Grands Montets area also very good. Stones covered, mountain circuit partly completely snowed in but only in a few places bearing snow. At 1000 m everything has melted away again but it remains quite cold and continues to flake, just doesn't stay put. Snow conditions vary due to heavy drifts. Aiguilles Rouges on Saturday 60cm Sunday another 15 cm on top. On the main ridge partly up to 2 cm. Especially steep areas under rock bars are deeply blown in.
Snow quality
Powder snow mixed with drift snow. The wind cover is more bearable with the influence of the sun. Still powdery in the Aiguilles Rouges on the north side down to low altitudes.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: strong
Above: 2000 m
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Blowing snow due to wind from the northeast and snowfall. Hard and soft drift snow slopes available.
Overall impression
New snowfalls with strong winds in some places result in very different local snow depths, but the bottom line is an excellent starting situation for serious winter sports enthusiasts.
