Snow condition
North-east facing hollows below the Rognon glacier go well if you stay in the middle. Sharks lurk just outside. In fact, it is good if there are already a few tracks in the gullies then you can see the common beasts as they have already been uncovered. Good snow conditions on the glacier itself. The crevasses and mountain circuit are surprisingly covered. For the direct descent towards the Argentière hut it would still be too tricky for me.
Snow quality
Overnight, 10 cm of cold, windless powder was added. It's doing well in the terrain. Mostly soft but settled layers underneath on the north side. Good rebound effect when riding. Sometimes harder snow in the busy gullies but never icy. Actually top if it weren't for the Sharks.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Still a 3... unfortunately it only goes away slowly, similar to a sunburn on the back of the neck. Old snow is still an issue and you don't feel comfortable for long on steeper and larger slopes. Snow-covered drift snow could also be treacherous. You can no longer see the old problems through the fresh snow. So choosing the right terrain is crucial.
Overall impression
Ice-cold day with very good powder snow. Avalanches and sharks can be avoided with a little caution. Not much going on in the Argentiere basin at the moment. The piste conditions in the ski area are icy. The valley run has been officially open since today. This means you no longer have to cross the construction site for the new lift. Basically very good conditions for ski tours at the moment. The off-piste terrain near the lift didn't look so rewarding today. Still too many stones.
