Snow condition
Basically good snow conditions for the time of year. What you see in the high mountains is above average. There's still quite a lot of base lying around despite the rain and some warm spells. Runs close to the ski area at medium altitudes are only in good conditions to a limited extent. However, certain runs are becoming more interesting again as the previously rocky powder slopes have been transformed into moguls and then firn slopes where you can now actively avoid the clearly visible rocks. There is still snow up to about 1000m in the valley, but then it gets thinner and thinner even on the north side. Off-piste skiing below 1800m on the north side makes no sense. Below 2500m it's ok and everything above that deserves 3 stars. The days aren't too warm, even in the valley it's quite cool, which means the white splendor will stay with us for a while, even if drier times are ahead.
Snow quality
Powder snow high up and on the north side. The wind has made a mess of things on the exposed mountains near the crest. Firn on the south side. In open terrain with little traffic, not stable, rather wet snow or broken snow. The best terrain is when the snow is completely plowed up.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Above: 2700 m
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Sharks and drift snow. Still old snow according to LLB
Overall impression
Without fresh snow, you slowly become more creative when it comes to activities. You can still keep yourself busy with a day of firn and mogul skiing or ridge scrambling. But slowly fresh snow can come so that the surprisingly resilient base doesn't starve out. Couloir de Poubelle was climbed but half of it was climbed down. Looked more like an act of desperation. Few tracks towards Mer de Glace. Pas de Chevre untracked. Looks a bit tricky as far as the drift snow is concerned.
