Snow report Courmayeur Mont Blanc, 02/29/2016
Heute war der Toula-Gletscher das Ziel. Eine Abfahrt von über 2.000 Hm! Das Panaroma war genial aber der Schnee nur mässig gut. Massen-(Freeride)tourismus.

Snow condition
You can still ski down to the valley on the main route on the south side without any problems. On the alternative routes (down from the pavilion on the sunny side), things are getting lean. Above 2,000 m, the base is still good. Up to the pavilion there are no problems.
Snow quality
On the south side, the snow was quickly eaten away by the sun today. In the morning, the turns on the sunny side were still acceptable. In the afternoon, there was only fine powder above 2,000 m and on the north side.
Risks
The variant area (which is very large here) made a stable impression. I saw hardly any or very few self-releases. When I did, it was only loose snow slides. Many old snow-covered avalanche cones (especially on the sunny side) are recognizable. Fresh avalanches were mainly triggered by winter sports enthusiasts. Slopes >45° and significantly more are also skied here at level 3. The masses of people here on the glacier resembled a funfair. A lot of French groups (from Chamonix) were back on the Courmayeur side today.
Overall impression
Blue bird day in Courmayeur in average conditions. The crowds of people spoil the stunning panorama. The next few days should see a resupply and temperatures drop to winter levels this time.
