Und es schneit immer weiter...

Overall impression
Snow condition
The snow conditions are excellent even in the valley at 1100m. It should be noted that the really heavy snow in the South Tyrolean Pustertal valley only becomes noticeable from Dobbiaco onwards; further into East Tyrol, the Pustertal valley is also blessed with huge amounts of snow.
Snow quality
We were in the upper Puster Valley in South Tyrol on a busy route. Overnight there was 30 cm of fresh snow on the mountain, from 1500m it was increasingly drier. From time to time you noticed that the ground was plowed up, but the fresh powder more than made up for it. So from the summit at 2400m down to the valley at 1100m you had a great descent with some really huge powder.
Risks
The avalanche situation on this day was classified as 2 up to 1800m and 3 above. From the tree line onwards, larger snow cornices could be observed in places and, depending on the exposure, blown-off ridges.
Overall impression
In summary, a tour with snowfall on the ascent, great snow on the descent, but unfortunately poor visibility with little contrast above the tree line.
