Snow condition
You can just about get down the south-facing Pordoi ridge without unbuckling. But you can't make many turns between all the stars. On the north side, things look much better. But below 2000 m, the snow is scarce here too. On the south side, it's mostly bare up to almost 3000 m.
Snow quality
Miserable snow quality. Broken, wind-pressed or no snow at all. Ridge blown away up to 3000m. Very hard snow surface. only a chance of firn in the next few days
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Be aware of the risk of falling in steep firn flanks and gullies. There is little snow, so stones come up through the snow here and there. The avalanche danger seemed very relaxed, but we weren't at the main danger spots either
Overall impression
that could have been the season here. there's still a lot of snow in places on the edge of the pass, but there's no really great base anywhere. some of the Sella ski slopes only go through green landscapes. as the next few days are forecast to be very sunny and with little precipitation, this won't change any time soon. nevertheless. Despite the modest possibilities, the ambience is always impressive. There are also a few north-facing icefalls if you need a break from the sun.
