Wonderful amount of snow! Access to the Ref. Alpe Villard d'Arène from the parking lot in the valley on skis is no problem (cross-country ski trail at the start), there is certainly enough snow in the valley to reach the hut for a while.

Snow quality

4 von 5 Sterne

It snowed 20 to 30 cm in the Ecrins and in La Grave from Friday to Saturday with quite cold temperatures. Despite the sun on Saturday and Sunday, there is plenty of powder in the northern exposures, with mostly fine powder on the descent from the Col des Agneaux and only minimal and easily skiable wind crust from time to time. Strong warming on sunny slopes and wet snow below 2000m.

Risks

Pay attention to daytime warming! Fresh snow regularly falls from sunny slopes in the morning, but beware of fresh drift snow at higher altitudes in all exposures.

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne

Dream weather and powder snow.
Unfortunately, the avalanche situation is still too tense for steeper couloirs and the bigger mountains at the moment due to the constant and strong wind.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
