Snow condition

From the parking lot behind Pont d'Arsine up to 2000 m virtually snow-free. It takes a good 1 hour on foot. After that, the snow cover is quite good. The classic Tour de la Meije is now very popular. The surrounding variants are less frequented. From the Tabuchet glacier you can still get quite far down to la Grave with a 20-minute carry.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne

Fine conditions from 2500 m, mostly still untracked. There is no more powder but homogeneous snow conditions. Only exposed climbs like Col du Pave are a little icy.

Risks

The daytime warming has been clearly noticeable recently and the window of opportunity to catch good and safe conditions is quite short. Good timing and getting up early are a must.

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne

Good spring conditions in great alpine surroundings. The Refuge du Pave is unhosted and quite easy even by French standards, but perfectly adequate. The Tour de la Meije via the Col du Pave is a varied alternative to the Telepherique ascent.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
