Variations of snow cover

Overnight lots of fresh snow, about 1-2 cm, and the wind has covered the tracks. No change compared to yesterday. Snow cover varies greatly. Not worth mentioning above 1,400m. Descent only possible due to machine-made snow.

Powder snow

Snow quality varies greatly. Wind-affected areas have a lid. Not easy to recognize due to the light snowfall. Where the sun has found the snow over the last few days, it immediately became heavy up to well over 2,500 meters. From 2,700 m to around 1,200 m, everything was covered in fog this morning, with freezing fog in places and wet fog further down. Visibility from 5 to 20 m.

Risks

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

Avalanche situation (2+) - Drift snow has formed in exposed areas > 2,400 m and is slightly covered. In addition to the risk of falling, slightly covered stones and other terrain traps must be taken into account.

Worse

Today we had the pleasure of skiing a few turns in the upper part of the Galti Glacier in the morning. There was fog up to 2,700 m. Above that, we were able to enjoy the mixture of sun and clouds. Watch out for the diffuse radiation (!). It was a great end to the last 3-4 days with a PowderGuide in Engelberg.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
