Snow condition

There is a lot of snow in Val Forno for this time of year! Between 2000 and 2200m on the valley floor there is about 2 meters, above that about 2.5 meters. The last time there were such values was in January 2013.

With the exception of the forest areas, the snow surface is, as is currently the case in many places, strongly influenced by the wind and is sometimes bearing, sometimes not bearing, which makes skiing downhill a rather rough affair. The last significant snowfall was over three weeks ago.

Risks

Extremely stable conditions and good snowpack structure. If the snow surface does not change fundamentally, it should be a suitable basis for the coming snowfall - with the exception of rare places near the tree line where the snow is gritty.

Overall impression

It's great that there's so much snow. That gives us hope for great spring conditions. But that doesn't change the fact that the downhill fun is rather lacking at the moment.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!

Thank you for your contribution to the PowderGuide project!
