Snow report Giant Mountains, 01/14/2017
Oh my god! just back from BC no sorry I meant Tschec Republic. It was dumping the whole weekend and will continue during the next days.

Snow condition
Super snow conditions. Solid base of +- 80cm. 50cm of powder on top since Friday evening. Anything is possible!
Snow quality
The snow quality is absolutely top, extremely rocky and light powder. The base is solid and has increased from 30cm to about 80cm since Sylivester. It seems to me that the lower layers have bonded well together, as the snow of the last week was still quite wet at first. Increasingly, there was also quite a lot of wind during the last week, whereas the precipitation at the weekend fell without much wind influence.
Risks
Officially beacon 3 is issued for the Giant Mountains. What exactly is happening can only be judged when the snowfall subsides and the situation becomes visible. Due to the dense snowfall, you have to limit yourself to tree runs at the moment ;-) I have not noticed any larger accumulations of drift snow in the wooded terrain. http://www.horskasluzba.cz/
Overall impression
Actually 4.5 stars, as the terrain above the tree line could not be skied due to the poor visibility and heavy snowfall. However, the conditions in the forest were so excellent that you would actually have to give it 6 stars ;-)
