Exposition
Snow condition
Little snow in the area, especially when you consider that you start at almost 2,000m. Also significantly less than in the westernmost Lower Valais. Nevertheless, you can get down without any problems. In the lower part of the couloir there are two places where the bare ice is only thinly covered, somewhat unpleasant but not a major problem.
Video
Snow quality
A bit of everything, still some powder protected from the wind and sun, otherwise hard packed or already firned up. Unfortunately, the couloir is not as regularly firned up as hoped, but still nice to ski in places.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Relatively favorable conditions, we did not notice any warning signs. Shady, rarely used steep slopes should be assessed with caution according to the SLF.
Overall impression
A bit of Cody for the poor or something like that. In any case, a beautiful classic here in the area, Hannibal-Couloir on Mont-Vélan. Conditions are not top, but the overall experience is easily 4*.
