Snow report Gressoney Monte Rosa, 01/10/2014
Pila/Aosta - gediegenes cruisen auf und neben der Piste bei gutem Schnee und Wetter

Overall impression
Snow condition
Really good. Above about 2000 m, probably about 50 cm of well-settled snow, which should form a good basis for the coming snowfalls, as long as there isn't too much heat. Everything in the forest is also quite well snowed in. Only at the top of the ridges often blown off.
Snow quality
Mostly well-settled snow from the last snowfall. Especially in the forest, on the north side and in very flat terrain, still nice recrystallized powder snow, ankle to knee deep. Light crust in some sun-exposed places, unattractive wind-harsh further up near the ridge.
Risks
LLB says 2. In my opinion, the avalanche risk is fairly low on the (frequently skied) variants in the ski area, mainly thanks to the cooling since yesterday evening after the few warmer days. At higher altitudes, some wind drifts since the last snowfall could still cause 'problems'.
Overall impression
Really good first day this season. Beautiful pistes and still plenty of good snow next to the pistes. Keep it up, the base is right, now it can keep snowing.
