Snow report Gressoney Monte Rosa, 01/11/2014
Courmayeur - Pisten gut, zum Freeriden braucht es allerdings etwas neuen Schnee

Overall impression
Snow condition
Top. Good base almost all the way into the valley, especially on the north side. Ridge locations and generally above the tree line, however, strongly influenced by the wind.
Snow quality
In the forest still some powder snow for a few turns, but mostly hard snow surface that is mostly stable: in the forest crust from the warmth during the week, on the sunny side from the sun, and further up wind slush. South-facing slopes like in spring, powder snow after midday.
Risks
According to the LLB, this is a 3. Not entirely unhealthy above the tree line, as there has been significantly more wind here since the last snowfall than in the central Aosta Valley. Some of the wind-induced loads are also quite powerful and some have already come down as snow slabs or were triggered by blasting.
Overall impression
Nice skiing in the best weather and good pistes. For real fun off the slopes, however, you need a lot of fresh snow again and preferably significantly less wind than this week.
